Thursday 1st October, Whitley: The 2015 ‘Ride Like a Pro’ Grand Final took place at Jaguar Land Rover’s Fen End circuit facility, near the company’s global headquarters in the Midlands.

The event, organised by luxury car manufacturer Jaguar and British professional cycling outfit, Team Sky, was the culmination of a hugely successful campaign this year which was organised through 41 Jaguar retailers across the UK. The event saw 3,000 participants compete to win a luxury cycling package of a lifetime, including a Pinarello DOGMA F8, as ridden by Team Sky, and co-engineered by Jaguar. Winners Matt Steel and Nicky Hayes will also receive an eight-day cycling experience in Tuscany and full Team Sky Rapha kit.

The Grand Final event proved a memorable day for both cycling fans and automotive enthusiasts, as their skills were put to the test on both two and four wheels in order to be crowned Jaguar’s 2015 Ride Like a Pro champion.  Participants competed in a series of dynamic driving challenges in the Jaguar XF Sportbrake followed by a seven-lap, 10-mile cycling time trial around the circuit.

This year’s Grand Finalist’s also received exclusive insight on how to improve their cycling performance from members of Team Sky including Sports Director, Kurt Asle Arvesen and Performance Coordinator, Oli Cookson.  Arvesen provided words of encouragement from the XF Sportbrake support vehicle whilst Oli Cookson cycled alongside the participants setting the pace and demonstrating the best lines to take through the corners and chicanes.

Kurt Asle Arvesen said: “The cycling time trial is known as the race of truth – and for the Grand Final’s 10 mile circuit our competitors left nothing out on the road. It was great to be able to get out on the race track and follow the riders as they put their bikes and legs to the test. The skill these cyclists showed was phenomenal and being able to offer these opportunities to cycling enthusiasts is fantastic.”

The Grand Finalists had the chance to see the new Jaguar F-PACE, recently revealed to the world with a spectacular gravity-defying performance at the Frankfurt Motor Show, at Fen End. The bespoke F-PACE sported the special Team Sky livery to celebrate Chris Froome’s victory at this year’s Tour de France.Jagaur Ride Like a Pro 2015 -F-PACE

Matt Steel, who qualified from Maidstone and Nicky Hayes from Chichester will be heading to the home of cycling paradise in Tuscany where they will be accompanied by their new Pinarello DOGMA F8 and Rapha Team Sky kit.
Matt Steel, 2015 Ride Like a Pro Winner, said: “I’m over the moon to have won today. I broke my pelvis about two months ago and since then I have been working really hard in the gym and out on the road in order to prepare for today. The weather today was beautiful and dry which provided good conditions for the cycle although there was a lot of wind out on the track which made it tough.”

He added: “Driving the Jaguar XF Sportbrake out on the skid pan was a great experience topped off with a hot lap in the Team Sky F-TYPE.  I can’t wait to be in Tuscany now with my new Pinarello DOGMA F8. Thank you to Jaguar and Team Sky for an unforgettable day.”

Nicky Hayes, 2015 Ride Like a Pro Winner added: “What an incredible day, I’m so excited and overwhelmed to be a champion. The time trial was good fun, however very tough in the wind, but I was determined to power through until the end. I do have a road bike but with a prize like this on offer I hired a time trial bike from a local supplier to help me with my training.”Jaguar Ride Like a Pro Champion Matt Steel
